IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE MUSTANGS AT THE MANSION NATIONAL SHOW
Hello fellow Mustangers! On behalf of the Blue Ridge Mustang Club of Asheville, The Biltmore Estate and Carepartners Hospice, we look forward to hosting you during Labor Day weekend. With over 500 Mustangs registered and an expected crowd on the estate of 3000 people, our national show is shaping up to be a mini- Mustang anniversary type event.
Due to this event being hosted on an 8000 acre facility that requires tickets and then passage through various checkpoints, we ask that ALL of you to please be patient with the procedures that we have in place for classification, registration, parking, transportation, and the many other aspects of what we have to offer for that weekend. Our location is unlike any other MCA national show and having to abide by the rules and regulations of the Biltmore has added extra dimensions to our planning and organization of the event.
This update is a VERY important for not only ALL registrants, registered spectators and vendors, but most importantly, those who are trailering their Mustangs to our show.
Within the next 2 weeks, all of you should be receiving a letter in the mail with the following: a Biltmore Estate ID tag, a map of the estate, a promotion for a cruise in and a summary of this update that you are currently reading.
We are asking that when you arrive at the estate to PLEASE HAVE THE ID TAG ON YOUR REAR VIEW MIRROR. By doing so, you will be able to enter the estate at a quicker pace than normal and to readily identify you as a participant. Please keep in mind that you will be entering the estate along with Biltmore staff, host club volunteers, vendor staff, Biltmore daytime visitors and regular guests who are visiting our event.
When exiting I-40 from either west or east, you will be just about 1.1 miles from the entrance to the Biltmore. Due to the daily regular traffic and school traffic, the additional 500 Mustangs will increase the possibility for some traffic back ups. We are diligently working with the Asheville Police Department to insure a steady flow of Mustangs into the estate. Once you exit from I-40 please do your best to MERGE to the far left lanes leading to the Biltmore. The estate is 3 traffic lights from the interstate!
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND
EARLY REGISTRATION ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd, 2010. We will be offering early registration on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd, from 1-6pm. If you are in town, and would like to save time and register your Mustang a day early, you may do so on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd. We ask that you arrive NO SOONER than 12:30pm and the last vehicle of the day will be at 5:45pm.
There will be NO shuttle transportation to the hotels on Thursday and NO visits to the estate and the house can be done on Thursday! The tickets to the estate are valid from FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd through MONDAY, SEPTEMBER, 6th. Shuttle transportation will begin on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd at 4:30 in the afternoon.
TRAILERED VEHICLES INFORMATION FOR THURSDAY THE 2nd
If you are trailering your Mustang and wish to participate in early registration on Thursday the 2nd, you have the following options:
1) You may register on Thursday and have your Mustangs picture taken and then reload your Mustang and bring it back to park in your designated parking space on Friday.
2) After registration, you may unload your Mustang AT REGISTRATION and drive the 1.2 miles to the show site and have your Mustangs picture taken. (Yes, the background for the pictures will be the Biltmore house!).
After you have the Mustangs picture taken, you have the choice of LEAVING your Mustang overnight at the show site or RELOADING your Mustang and then coming back onto the estate on Friday to park at your designated parking space.
3) If you have a Mustang that is not driven, you may tow your Mustang on Thursday to the show site and unload near the photographer and obviously 'push' your vehicle to be photographed. Please be aware that where the photographer will be located may not be near where you will be parked, so use good judgment
for having your car photographed. If you do not mind reloading your Mustang after the photograph is taken, then that is your call.
4) Trailer parking is 2.5 miles from the main show site. You may park your trailer at the trailer parking site and EXIT the estate with your tow vehicle. When you re-enter the estate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with your tow vehicle, you will need to park your tow vehicle at the TRAILER PARKING AREA during the show hours.
We will provide shuttle service from the trailer parking site to and from the main show site each day except for Thursday.
5) Due to the excessive number of trailered vehicles for our event, we had to relocate the trailer parking to a larger facility. This facility is a grass field and is just a bit over 2 miles from the main show site. We do not suggest unloading your Mustang at this field as it is a dirt road surrounding the field. We are asking that as many trailered Mustangs unload at registration, drive the 1.2 miles to the main show site and then have the option of keeping the car there Thursday night or reloading the Mustang and then bringing it back on Friday.
6) Currently, we are in the talking stages of trying to relocate tow vehicle parking to a area that is closer to the show site. This will be for TOW VEHICLES ONLY and not for trailers. Hopefully we will have an update prior to the show.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD
1) CLASSIFICATION AND REGISTRATION. The gates to the Biltmore will open at 7:30am. We ask that YOU DO NOT begin to line up at the gate prior to 7:30am. If you attempt to do so, you will be asked to turn around and exit the estate. Any attempt to begin lining up prior to 7am can and will result in your vehicles extending onto the main road. If that happens, you will be ticketed by Asheville Police. The main entrance to the estate needs to be clear of cars in order to let in the host club volunteers and Biltmore staff.
2) Classification and registration is 3 miles from the entrance. After classification, it is a 1.2 mile drive to parking lot C (main show site) and 2 miles to parking lot B (display, modified, LMA and overflow of other judged vehicles).
3) REGISTERED SPECTATORS are asked to enter the registration area to obtain their Biltmore packets.
Once you have your packets, you will be then directed to a parking area close to the main show site.
4) If you are trailering a Mustang and CAN DRIVE the Mustang, we are almost BEGGING you to unload your Mustang after registration and then drive it to the show site where you will be photographed and then parked. We will then get you back to your tow vehicle and trailer for an escort to trailer parking.
If you cannot drive the Mustang, then as in any other national show, you will then be able to unload at or close to your designated parking space.
5) If you will be using your tow vehicle for transportation to and from the estate, you will have transportation to and from the show site up to 6pm on FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. Please be sure to read your Biltmore packet after registration.
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 4th
1) Classification and registration is from 7:30am to 10:30am. Failure to arrive by 10:30am will result in you not being able to be in the show as ALL classification forms need to be in the tally room by 10:45am.
Make sure that you are showing your yellow ID TAG on the vehicle(s) that you are driving back onto the estate at all times!
2) JUDGES MEETING IS AT 10:30AM. SHUTTLE BUSES WILL GO THROUGH PARKING LOT B AND C STARTING AT 9:30AM AND WILL RUN UNTIL 10:00AM. Judges are asked to be at parking lot D (located 50 yards from parking lot C) to board the buses to the meeting site which is 1.2 miles from the show site. Any judges that are at parking lot B will be asked to meet at the DJ booth starting at 9:30am.
3) Judges meeting is expected to last no longer than 12noon. There will be no time for any extra speeches or talks as in previous national judges meetings. With over 450 cars to judge, we will conduct normal judges business and then transport all judges to the main show site. Any judging to be done at parking lot B needs to be done first and we will transport any of those judges to parking lot B after the meeting. The judges sheet will reflect that the car for you to be judging is at B or C.
4) Judging will begin (hopefully) by 12:15pm and end (hopefully) by 5pm. Shuttle buses will begin to take those who are using them to the host hotels (Doubletree, Sleep Inn, Brookstone and Marriott) at 4:30pm and will run until 6:00pm. We will be using two yellow school buses and two trolleys to take you to the host hotels. The same buses will then take you to back to the estate at 7pm for the Friday night and Saturday night events. ONLY THOSE WITH TICKETS FOR THE FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY NIGHT SHOWS CAN ENTER THE ESTATE AFTER 7PM.
5) If you did not pre-purchase tickets to Friday or Saturday night, you have the opportunity to do so up to 3:30pm each day on Friday and Saturday. NO tickets will be sold after 3:30pm. Tickets will be available at the host club facility in the center of parking lot C. Cash or check only!
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th
1) Show hours are 8am to 12noon. Lunch is from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Awards ceremony is expected to begin at or about 2pm. Lunch is on your own and will be served at the awards ceremony. THE LATER YOU ARRIVE TO THE AWARDS CEREMONY THE BETTER THE CHANCE YOU WILL NOT HAVE A SEAT, SO PLEASE BRING YOUR FOLDING CHAIRS. The awards location will seat up to 750 people. We expect at least 900.
2) You will not be able to drive and park your car at the awards ceremony. The location is 1.5 miles from the main show site and one half mile from parking lot B. Those at B can walk to the awards ceremony, but it is an uphill walk for a half mile.
3) Shuttle buses will begin to take you to the awards ceremony starting at 11:30am. We suggest that prior to you heading to the awards ceremony that you roll up your windows, put down your tops, lock your doors and put away your personal belongings and close your trunk as you are a good distance from your cars and will be gone for a few hours. The last shuttle to leave the parking lots for the awards ceremony is at 1:45pm.
If you are visiting the house and feel that you will miss the shuttle bus to the awards ceremony, please take this advice. Stand at the entrance to the house and look across the grass, past the fountain, past the stone wall and up the long hill after the stone wall. At the top of that hill is the awards ceremony. You can walk to the ceremony from the house if you miss the shuttle. You can also take a regular Biltmore shuttle bus to PARKING LOT A and then proceed to the awards ceremony from the shuttle stop at PARKING LOT A. The awards ceremony is at the DIANA which is above PARKING LOT A.
The reason for not being able to drive any personal vehicles to PARKING LOT A is due to it being used for regular daytime parking.
4) At 1:30 (prior to the awards ceremony) Mickey Matus from Ford Racing will give a 15min talk to the audience. After Mickey is finished with his talk, Steve McCarley will give a quick talk, the president of the Blue Ridge Mustang Club will give a quick speech and then the awarding of the Lee Iacocca Award will be presented and then the trophies will be presented.
5) Upon completion of the ceremony, shuttles will take you back to PARKING LOTS B & C so you may obtain your Mustang to depart the estate. Please be advised that the last entry into the mansion is at 4:30pm. Due to the length of the awards ceremonies (in the past), it will be too late to visit the house. You may still visit the gardens, and the winery and Antler Hill village, but will have to drive your tow vehicle or Mustang to these locations. NO BILTMORE SHUTTLES GO TO THE WINERY OR ANTLER HILL VILLAGE. Our club is providing shuttles to the winery and Antler Hill Village up to 2pm on Sunday, so if you are visiting the winery or the village, you will need to be on the shuttle bus back to Parking lot B and C in order to take the other shuttles to the awards ceremony. All this will be explained in your Biltmore packet.
This has been a detailed update as far as what is considered to be very important information. Your Biltmore packet will have more detailed information regarding every aspect of show times, shuttle transportation, and timed entry tickets for the mansion. We suggest you do some detailed reading of the information prior to planning you day at the Biltmore. |
